In light of all the bad news lately, I thought we could all use something to cheer us up. What is your favorite song that has Cadillac in its lyrics? I'll go first, Diamond in the Back by Curtis Mayfield.

Well, there's "Waitin' in your Welfare Line" by Buck Owen's, and as was mentioned already, "One Piece at a Time" by the Man in Black.
I gotta think if there's any other ones. I'll get back to you on that.

Rick

Just thought of another one called "Beep Beep" by the Playmates. Not a favorite,  but it does have a Cadillac in it.

"Hey Little Cobra"
Cadillac used as a tow vehicle to take the little Cobra down to the track, where said Cobra is alleged to "shut down" the Corvettes (Stingrays) and Jags (xke's).
Mainly used the Cadillac 'cause it rhymes good with track. ;)

Not a big fan of David Allen Coe, but gotta love "The Ride"

My very favorite Montgomery Gentry's "Gone" (like a '59 Cadillac)

With all due respect I believe you are referring to Be Thankful For What You've Got by William DeVaughn.
"Although you may not drive / a great big Cadillac..."
It IS a great song -- one of my favorites. Another is Cadillac Car from Dream Girls.

I went to two car shows in eastern central Florida recently. Each had numerous Cadillacs, and one Nash Rambler. You can guess the favorite song at each show was "Beep, Beep" by The Playmates.

;D  "No Money Down"  Chuck Berry.

As I was motivatin' back into town,
I saw a Cadillac sign sayin', no money down.
So I eased on my brakes and pulled in the drive,
gunned my motor twice, then I walked inside.
etc.

Maybelline by Chuck Berry

I second the motion.

Maybelline by Chuck Berry is the greatest.  "As I was motivatin' over the hill, I saw Maybelline in a Coupe de Ville"

Another is a '50s rock and roll song that I remember called "Trickle, Trickle, Splash, Splash".  It's about a sharply dressed guy who has a date for a party but no car, and since it starts raining is now in a bind: if he doesn't take her out she's sure to ditch him.  So he appeals to a buddy with the right kind of wheels by pleading "You know I'd be sharp as a tack, so please lend me your Cadillac".

Another vote for the Johnny Cash song Once Piece at a Time, (1976). Nods also to the Playmate's Beep Beep (1958). I am also fond of the Guess Who's Star Baby, (1974). In this number, vocalist Burton Cummings sings about a female celebrity girlfriend, and asks (and hopes); "Can you take me drivin' maybe kissin' in your Cadillac". Sounds like an interesting role reversal to me! I'm in! Clay/Lexi

Edit: Oops can't forget Bruce Springsteen's Cadillac Ranch (1980). Great tune.
