Today I started bringing the color back on the steel parts of the doorpanels. The blue paint got a lot brighter and I’m happy with how it looks. But the inner part, where’re the gold’ish paint is, I want to know what should that look from the factory. Any info would be nice.
Many thanks,Ramon

After a quick wash I started with commandant #4, then meguires ultimate compound and finish it of with Sonax polish and color wax. Thanks to the Corona lock down I had the time to do it this way...

Peaked my interest, an earlier year than me.   I looked up some pictures and all are showing the same color on the upper and lower steel door trim.   Chance your's uncommon, you may want to check around yourself or see what the trim code is on your fisher body plate and go to the GMheritage archives and find the specifications manual, if they have it.   One of those dealer trim manuals would show the combinations available.   Rare and expensive to obtain.
Could be people just painted them the same in restos, but this is an original brochure.   There weren't too many golds back in the day, so a period color chip chart, may help.   Sometimes Cad used gold trim for specials.   Anything is possible when a car is that old and had many owners.   Plus they would do requests.   Even one owners sometimes "personalize" to taste themselves.   So just because it's on there/not on there, doesn't mean it came that way.   Or seek a restorer who's done '52.

I would think it should match the lower part of your dash, which would be a lighter color than the top of the dash. IMO

I am not sure about 52, but by 54 and 55, it was common that the interior metal parts would often have 2 different colors of paint (usually lighter and darker colors in one color family, like a medium blue and medium-dark blue).

Hello Ralph,

My car is paint code 20, 1952 coupe de ville series 62, nassau / olympic blue combo. Do you know of a resource to go get that paint made with the code?

Thanks

Oscar,

If you have the color samples, a good supplier can scan them and create a formula using modern pigments. The shop I’ve used will make up a pint to test  for match. Most likely it will have to be tweaked. Do the spray out on something portable to bring back to the shop and show the person doing the formulation......It's a big help for them.  Check eBay for color charts  ($10-20) being selective to get one in good condition.

You’ve got a beautiful  CDV…..There are so few left today to admire
