Roof rail rubber replacement

I have a 1965 hardtop Sedan de Ville.
My roof rail rubber is pretty dry and starting to flake, so I would like to replace it.
Steele Rubber sells a kit, but I would like to know if any members here have done this job themselves and if so what I should expect. Will any body parts (fenders, trim, etc.) need to be removed in order to replace the rubber?
