I seem to recall discussion here of supporting the rear axle of a FWD Eldorado while it’s up on a lift.

Is this a requirement? Is it optional? Or is it unnecessary?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have the ‘70 on my mid rise lift and am going to inspect/ repack the rear bearings, do a rear brake inspection, balance the rear wheels and replace an air valve on one of the wheels.

Do I need to support the rear axle during this exercise?

Thanks

I don't remember hearing anything like that and I have not had any issues that I know of but I'm a 71-78 guy so maybe 67-70 is different and I just have not paid attention?   I know its a different setup.  The 71-78 has coil springs and doesn't seem like its a lot different than the RWD cars.    67-70 has leaf springs and horizontal shocks?  Maybe its to do with the shocks?   I have never really looked close at that setup.

I don’t see any reason to support the rear while on a lift.
I normally store my 70 on my 2 post lift.

Ok great, thanks for the feedback.

If anyone has more input, I would appreciate that.

Yes the ‘70 has a single leaf and air shocks and longitudinal shocks.

The ALC is long gone on my ‘70.

While I am in there, would any one want the level sensor device as that is still there but I may just remove it for GPs. (General Principles)

Personally, I don't like hanging suspensions by the end of the Shocks, but in some cases, it cannot be helped.

Yeah, I wanted to at least question it before I did it.
