Does anyone know their total timing on the 390 engine without AC? Also what is total mechanical advance and initial timing? Is it 36 degrees? Curious what the best timing formula is. Thank you.

Usually the shop manual has curves for the ignition timing.

Yes I have the manual. Thank you. But I run manifold vacuum vs ported so I wondered if anyone Successfully experimented with a different timing curve

I have modified mine but it will take a bit more timing as I had the camshaft re-ground for a bit more duration/lift.

Can't remember how much mechanical advance stock but I think it was very low, something like 10-12 degrees.

I removed the limiters in the distributor for the mechanical advance and run 13 initial 36 total and no vacuum advance.
