Question,

Did the 1941 60S come standard with electric windows?  I thought they were all hydraulic.  I recently saw one with electric windows.  May have been converted.

Thanks,

Bob,

The production 1941 60S (6019S) had manual door windows only.  If you're talking a rare divider window model (6019SF), then only the divider window was electrically powered - door windows were still manual.   Some special '41 60S customs for GM brass did have power windows (some electric and some reportedly hydraulic) - but these were the exceptions.

Cadillac did not introduce hydraulic windows into production until 1946 (convertible coupes and limos [divider glass only in the '46 limo]) - but the 60S did not have them until '48 or '49.

Thanks,

I misspoke about the origin of the 1941 60S which I recently viewed. Although it does have electric windows.... it was not ordered "by and for" the owner of a Cadillac dealership.  Rather the car was purchased used by an employe of a dealership. I had misunderstood the information received and misrepresented the truth.

Please accept my apologies.

Thank you,

Bob

Look at the body plate. If not SO, they were added by someone. If SO, did they ever get a invoice for the car?? It will tell what the SO. was.

Bob :

I don't think you got the story straight. If you are talking about the car you saw recently. It was bought as a used car by a CLC member from the local Cadillac dealer. The owner had worked at the dealer previously and ordered all the new parts available for 41 Cadillacs available at that time. He later started to restore it.

There were three types of power windows used of only a few '41's Electric, Hydraulic and Vacuum. These were experimental and were used on on  ten cars or so for GM executives. No other '41's had power windows. Several of these still exist. The ones in the car you saw were engineered and installed by the present owner as were the other modifications to make it like a GM executive car.
