I have a 56 Cadillac Series 62 with a 365 ci engine which has a Rochester Quadra-Jet carb on it.  I'm searching for carb parts and a carb re-builder told me that the Quarda Jet was not original on this car.  If thats the case, what is the original carb that should be on it?

Thanks

As I mentioned answering your other post, your Rochester carb should be a 4GC.  Cadillac also used Carter carburetors and they were WCFBs back then.

Thanks for the responses.  I originally said I had a Quadra Jet.  It is actually a 4-Jet.  See attached.

Hawkfan, 35-709 is correct. Looking at the image you posted, I am fairly certain, (99.9%)  that is a Rochester model 4GC carburetor for a 1956 Cadillac. Don't see a tag on it, but if you got it set aside, what is the number? The "RP" noted in the casting, lower right area, stands for "Rochester Products". Carters were also used that year, but they have more of a "square mouth" when looking at the carburetor horn and throat area. Yours in this picture is definitely a Rochester. Clay/Lexi

Thanks Lexi !!!  I pulled the radiator to get it re cored so I figured i'll explore the carb issue.  It appears that the butterfly on the back two barrels is really binding up.  I'll pull the top off and see what is going on.
I wonder if there are new/rebuilt 4CG's out there?  I'll have to look.

You are welcome Hawkfan. I stand to be corrected, but that is a one year only carb. Not that without some jerry-rigging you could get something else to work, but I wouldn't. Sad part is they are not particularly common. I went through 5 of them to get enough good working parts to get mine operational. I do see them on Ebay, but they are not cheap. If you have any doubts I would try and find a good local rebuilder to have a shot at it. Also, they usually have a cache of parts laying around that may help. Let us know how you make out. Good that you are having the rad done. '56 Caddy engines ran hot and everything must run close to OEM specs for the engine to be happy, especially with the new gas. Clay/Lexi

Doubt you will find new.  There are several/many good rebuilders in the U.S. that could rebuild that carb for you.  The Rochesters of that time were kind of finicky but a good rebuild and they were OK.  One rebuilder I am familiar with and highly recommend is Daytona Parts --- https://www.daytonaparts.com/

Thanks 35-709!  This morning I sent a request for quote to Daytona to rebuild my carb!

I concur with the recommendation of Daytona Parts Co.  They have been at it now for quite a while; so they must know that they are doing.

Another excellent rebuilder is Sparky's Carb; he knows Rochester carburetors -
