Anyone know how to lube the shift tube bearings in the steering column?

Bob,

The ball bearings used for the transmission shaft tube seat at the bottom of the steering column tube.

If yours is a bit stiff the shaft tube may be either too deep into the shifter housing (the piece where the shifter is inserted) or not deep enough.

An incorrect placement here will cause the shift lever (where the transmission rod is place) to rub against the opening at the steering column tube.

If you want to lube this ball bearing you need to remove the shift lever and spay some lube inside shaft, not an easy task as you need to do it from the top and the space is really tight.
