I stated before that my gas gauge shows full so sending unit is not working in my 79 Eldorado, hard to find.
I was looking at one vendor and they show one for my car but for a digital dash which I don't have.
My question is can this be modified to work with a regular dash as work properly??

Do make sure your tank unit is properly grounded, open circuit will read full.

I remember this coming up before here.  Don't remember when or why, it may have had to do with someone maybe converting from a digital dash to an analog one.   Anyone else remember any details that may help in a search?

I had the tank out and in but will make sure it is grounded properly just in case I missed something.

When I replaced my gas tank on my ‘51, I wasn’t sure I was getting a good ground as it goes through the attaching hardware, so I added a ground from the tank to the frame just to make sure I had a good solid ground.

I actually had a clip with a terminal that I had from some electric supply house to just clip onto the tank seam and ran a bonding braid to a ring terminal to an existing bolt on the frame.

I have done the same.  But later I realized, the ground wire should be
attached to the provided lug on tank pickup unit, as the random connection
between it and the tank cannot be guaranteed over the decades.  Bruce Roe

Send yours out and get it fixed??

Why is that not an option.

Sent it out to a supposed proper shop and said they could not do it.
I will look into the info you sent Thanks.
Just not sure how easy shipping would be Im in Ontario.
I understand postal service on both sides of the border is rather slow.

My USPS shipping between countries has taken months.  You might
consider the considerable extra cost of using Fedex, UPS, or DHL.
Some Canadians have a friend across the border who can keep shipping
within one country.  My last USPS shipment to Europe got there via Tokyo,
clearly misrouted the longest possible route.

My 79 Eldo tank unit had this hose failure which requires a special
submersible hose replacement.  There were plenty of subtle high resistance
connections to the level sensor, which had to be repaired for the gauge
to work properly.  It looked like this by the time I put a single high
pressure pump in to replace that stuff in the frame.  Bruce Roe

Read some of the reviews on Tri Starr and most were not positive.
Have any of you guys used them??

81 BENY Biarritz

Hi Donnie,  Looking at the pictures that Bruce attached I am wondering if it is something you could do yourself?   I have the same issue with my 81 with the digital dash and I have been considering it, but just haven't gotten around to dropping the tank to figure out what is wrong.   I found the picture below on another forum and I believe it was for a 74(?) Eldorado.   The poster had taken it apart to clean it and then put it back together successfully.   As far as I have read GM used a standard 90 ohm resistor on many models over the years.   I am suspecting that either the resistor coil, that you can see if you look carefully on the interior of the housing, or the wiper gets damaged or worn and then creates an open circuit.   If you were to buy an NOS original sender from a more common GM model off E-bay I would guess that the outside housing could be swapped out for the one on yours by simply bending the tabs that hold it in place.  If necessary you might also be able to use the wiper off the new one with a little soldering(?).   Just not sure about the flat wire connection to the bottom of the top plate but I think I saw a picture of one that used a spring retainer plate.   Anyways if you do decide to give it a go,  please post your results so I can decide on the route to take on mine.  Thanks  Dave

That is the sort of thing that repaired my level sensor.  Swap parts, solder
rivits, etc.  An ohm meter will track down any problem.  Bruce Roe
