I have a 66 Eldorado that I just purchased. I put a new alternator, battery, among other things. But noticed that the courtesy lights didn’t turn off... I figured that if I removed the fuse that would do the trick...no go. Please point me in the right direction...what’s the best way to find the short?

There's a three way light switch on the front of the driver side rear arm rest. One posution keeps the lights on full time. Check that that is not the case. Don't know which fuse you pulled, but if I recall the interior lights are on the Body fuse.

Thanks Ralph

Yes, I tried the switch in both positions...same result.
Thanks for the response

This will sound strange, but check you cigerrete lighters for shorts. They are on the same circuit and if the insulator in the base is cracked, it's a dead short. Disconnect the wires to the bases and see whether the lights go off. If so attach them one at a time to find the bad one.  Don't asked me how I found this out.....
