I have my 73 Eldorado convertible in for a new convertible top. The weatherstripping looks a bit tired. Is Steele still the best source for a weatherstrip kit?

Steele is $479.00

Metro is $416.00

Fusick is $209.00 in their ebay listing.

Probably all coming from the same factory in China??

+1 on Steel Rubber.  Everything on my '55 Eldorado
was sourced from them.  Ten years later and it's all
still like new.

I had a bad experience with Steele when I did the top on my 60 about 6 years ago.
I ordered their kit of roof rail weather stripping and the side sections did not fit. The threaded studs that were molded into the pieces were done completely wrong. There are holes in the top frame and studs and nuts for the weatherstrip sections. Didn’t line up at all. I called them and they told be how many kits they sell a year and I emailed them photos of the pieces and how they don’t fit and they had no solution so they took everything back.
Even the header piece was too thick. You couldn’t close and latch the top due to the thickness.

Before you think it was the installer, it wasn’t.
We bought a kit from Metro and it fit without any problem.

So I called Fusick today. I also have a 1966 Olds Toronado and have bought stuff for that as well as their Cadillac radiator hoses with the part numbers on them. Their stuff is great. I was told that this is a kit that they have made for them and it’s for all the 71-76 GM scissor tops. No complaints he says and to their price is $209 for the kit. So I’ll give it a shot and report back.

Thanks for the input.

Shop around for the best pricing. Surprisingly, JEGS had the best price on several of the piece of reproduction molding that I have bought. Most of the "big name" Cadillac specialists were the highest.

If you check around, a lot of people sell Steele rubber parts for less money than Steele does in his catalogue.

I received the kit from Fusick the other day and it looks great.  I am going to take it over to my upholstery shop this week and let him take a look at it.
