I am going to replace the interior firewall panel in my '47. I have a sheet of 1/8" ABS that i will use. I need to replicate the hump in it & was going to use a heat gun to soften it, then press it down on the old one. Has anybody else made one of these, or something similar?  I also need to replace the insulation behind it. Any suggestions on materials for heat shield/ insulation  and sound deadening?  Dynamat or something better?  Thanks

Is the old one metal or plastic?   Not real sure what you're trying to do here, cover or replace the original?   Why?
A plastic shop maybe the place to go, they can vacuum form or have a better method / material.
If metal, just repair/replace.
