My 85 CDV has a broken window guide. It is the one that is located at the rear top edge of the glass (drivers door) and rides in the vertical door frame channel. The clip folds over the edge of the glass and the two sides snap together through  a hole in the glass.  The application years for the replacement part is 1985-1993 but the clip won't snap together because the glass is too thick. I have been doing some reading and have seen a mention of the 1985 door glass being thicker than the 86-93 causing the clip not to work.

Any thoughts on the thicker glass being true and leads for the correct part? Thx.
