1949 headlight switch

Hi,

Can anyone tell me on the headlight switch, how does the chrome knob come off the shaft. Does the centre pull out or screw off or is it something else.

G'day Karl,

If it is like most other headlight switches, it will have a spring-loaded button at the opposite side of the wire attaching points (Terminals), that you push in whilst pulling the knob straight out.

Sometimes you have to push the spring-loaded knob in before pulling out the actual switching knob, but it will come out.

I have also found that in the process the switch is turned on during the process, so best to disconnect the Battery first.

Without trying to sound like I'm talking dirty, I think the knob and the shaft are all one piece. Here's an article from the "49 Times" that explains how to remove it.

Hi, Tried it and it's like a push button as you say on the inside of the headlight switch. Thanks, Karl
