I was recently told about the company Lseat who seem to run an internet seat cover business. From what I can find out,(not a lot) they are located in Texas. The area code is from Massachusetts, but I believe it is a internet phone number. Has anyone done business with them? I see good and bad reviews. I have tried to call with no success.

Not worth the risk.   They can probably make a genetic shape seat cover.  But do not trust them to make anything special for you.  I would say they are mostly a scam.

I was curious about Lseat as well, since they had new leather upholstery for a 1968 Eldorado that appear pretty darn close to original.
I got a leather swatch from them pretty quickly a few weeks back, but have yet to order anything from them.

I've seen on other forums that people had luck with them for other cars, but I am curious about them holding up long term/quality.

I wonder if anyone else on here has used them.

I have purchased leather seat covers from LSeat for my 79 Seville. Shipmemt arrived after some weeks. There are covers for headrests and armrests included. Looks like they include all correct stiches and patterns similar to original covers. I have not yet installed those.
The price is so cheap that not a big problem if they can not be used. In this kind of hobby car there will be minimal amount of use so I do not expect problem with durability. Even my upholstery shop recommended to try due to low price.

I am also interested in these.  It appears they are not seat "covers," like ones you would buy at Autozone and just put over the top of your existing seats--they are actually replacement leather, where you would need to remove the old leather and replace it with these.  It says on the site you would need hog rings, hog ring pliers and tools to install, so they definitely do not sound like slip-on seat covers. As far as their being "cheap," I guess that's relative.  For my car, an 85 Biarritz convertible, they would be $400 each for front and back ($800 total), so not something I would buy and just toss out if they can't be used!  Matti, I would be interested in your experience with your 79 Seville.  Does it have the button tuft upholstery?

Hi Mike
I started installing driver seat cover, still in process as this is my first time for this kind of job. Covers fit very well, even the recessed arm rest area. Seville seats are far from basic bucket seats as they are not symmetric, and the seat back has similar tightening wires etc ( Sorry I do not know correct word) to install like in sitting part. I use original cushions and certainly it would look a bit better with new ones. So far I am very happy with quality/price ratio. Probably a specialist could install those even better but I wanted to learn and do it myself. I bought simple hog ring pliers and 960 rings. Hope that will be enough!!
Lost of work is there to remove old hog rings without damaging the wires which are needed for new covers. And yes, they are replacement to original upholstery, not to put on top of existing ones.
And what a nice surprise: there was original build sheet inside driver seat back!!

Matti

They also make seat covers for Deloreans and the people who have ordered from them all have been happy.

The Lseat covers for the DeLorean are great, I would give them a shot for my Cadillac if only they made covers for the 57.

Matti, those look nice.  How do they compare to the original leather, in color match and texture?  From the photo the leather looks like it is not as smooth as the original leather.

Thanks Mike!

I can only compare to the original 41 years old leather, and the new one is not as smooth as the original is now. Texture and colour is not gloss like the old one. Colour is very close to a new smooth leather which my upholstery shop used in my 71 Eldo seat repair. Not shiny black but more like semi-gloss. I would order a sample piece from Lseat first if I wanted to be sure about the texture and colour.

The smooth texture and gloss is from years of use, any new leather cover will eventually wear into the same smooth texture and glossy look.

I applied some leather conditioner to seat covers and they look better now.
White dots are remains from conditioner.

If this is a "scam," they have gone to a lot of trouble in putting up their web site. AND, at present, their Cadillac items are on sale. They seem to know what they are talking about and have pictures of each model's seats. Turnaround time is more than reasonable as well. In any business, you are always going to have someone who couldn't be satisfied if the item were free.

Someone with some business sense has fallen into the patterns for these seats and a source for the leather. If you are sceptical, simply don't buy from them...

Thanks for the photos Matti. My only concern now is how the button tufts would look, if they would be like the original.

79 Eldorado

Lseat was recommended on another Cadillac forum. I tried phoning them today but the number is a paid Google service phone similar to one I have for skype (internet based but they work). For the '79-85 Biarritz there are 2 reviews and the people seem happy. I've done some seat work before but I've never taken apart a seat with the "pillow" top seating surface so one question I had is does the foam/filling in the pillow come sewn into the replacement cover or is that something you need to extract from the original.

The photos of the covers I saw looked good and they made a comment about using "superior cow leather". To be honest the original seats are certainly smooth but I have some cracks starting in the original driver seat and from what I see, in the crack, the original doesn't strike me as a superior product. Based on sewing on some of my own leather steering wheel covers the original leather looks pretty suspect. My passenger seat has one crack through the pleat stitching; rear is perfect so I was planning to do only the fronts but I may wait until spring...warmer weather. My seats aren't even disturbingly bad but I've never even seen seats for the 79-85 offered so I planned to try these.

One other thing maybe Matti can answer: Is the Cadillac crest included in the base price? All the photos show it but then there is a custom option to add embroidering or embossing so I wasn't certain.

I was looking at their website, seems 1970 is completely missing. I see 1969 seat covers, and  1971, but no 1970?  Maybe something to do with not being able to do the upholstery buttons on the 1970 seats?

I sent them an email and picture of my seat. They did not have the pattern, but said if I could send my cover(s) they could make a pattern from the originals. I promptly got on car-part.com and found an excellent seat only a hundred miles from me for $75.00 Since I have 50/50 seats, I should be able to just send the one to get a pair. And, they give a 50% discount to anyone providing them a pattern they don't have.

There was a grammatical error in the text but these days, I've noticed some misspelled words on the Forum, so I'm not too concerned about that. Since I have tufted seats, I plan to have a local shop install them. All I have to do now is find someone to accompany me on the trip as I don't drive anywhere that far alone these days. There were a couple of places that had my color with good seats, but they were from yards that think old car guys have deep pockets and were some distance away as well.

Hi Scott,
I bought seat covers for 79 Seville and those have no crests. Unfortunately I do not know if they are included in the base price or not. I hope you can reach somebody from Lseat to confirm.

Matti

Barry,
Wow that's very cool. I wonder if they only do leather and if only certain cars are of interest to them. The "tufted" seat name I guess is the name I was trying to think of. I've never had one of those apart and I wondered if they have something sewn into the "tuft" or a piece simply tucks in from the base.

Matti,
Thanks. It makes me wonder if all of the Eldorado seats had the Cadillac crest. The only 2 cars I've ever spent enough time around to notice were both the '79 Biarritz model and even their information states that the covers are specific to the Biarritz. It made me wonder if that was a mistake or if the Biarritz seats were actually different.
