Hi guys,

underneath the rear fenders of my 1950 Club Coupe is a lot of rust. My painter/welder needs to know how the highlighted area looks like underneath without the fender. Does anybody have a few pictures of that area that shows us how it should look like. Thanks a lot. Is there anything in the shop manual that might help?

Here's a few pics that may help you. There was no Club Coupe in 1950. You have the standard coupe like my car. The last of the club coupes was in 1949.

Hi, that is extremely helpful, thank you very much.
Already forwarded to my guy.

I wonder a little about your Club Coupe comment. I have my little wisdom from books only. I might be totally wrong. Here is my reference attached. I think in the Standard catalogue of Cadillac it is the same. If it is not a Club Coupe I am happy to call it a Coupe. Just looked up an original 1950 brochure, there it is 'only' a Coupe!!!
What color are you going to use on yours? I am still struggling to make my mind up. Thanks again!!!

Hi Hans. I took notice of your car because it looks to have the same color combination as my 53. My car is all done. The photos were some years back during the restoration.

There's sheet metal repair in the '49 shop manual, but I can't pull up a '50 copy online, so you might want to look round first.  The usual places; Bishko, Faxons, etc.   A parts list may help too.   They would have B&W pictures of the panels and location by part number.
I have a complete "spot weld" manual for the '58, so at some point they switched off, but not sure when.
It shows the sheet metal part numbers in the parts manual with pictures but not the "repair" that's in the earlier shop ones.
I would think any competent bodyman should be able to figure it out, without, unless it's been butchered and bondoed previously?   It's not like you're going to find NOS or patch panels that old.

Mr.Allen is right; there was no Club Coupe in 1950. There were three Cadillac coupes in 1950 and again in 1951:
Series 61 Coupe
Series 62 Coupe
Coupe DeVille
All three were pillarless hardtops, and none was a fastback "Club Coupe" as in 1948 and 1949. The Series 61 model had a 122 inch wheelbase and was 211 inches long, and the other coupes had a 126 inch wheelbase and were just shy of 221 inches long.

The Series 61 models were dropped for 1952, but the Series 62 Coupes continued in 1952 and 1953 (and beyond in redesigned models with 129 inch wheelbases).

Thanks a lot. Appreciate your comments. But interesting that it is wrong in the books.

It all depends on who proof-reads the work before printing, and what they know about the subject.

The same can be said for Commercial and Private Advertising

Don't forget that a lot of people are used to other brands, and there is a lot of differences between brands, and sub-brands.
