I just got a 1956 convertible home from the states. It has been side swiped on the driver side. With the car came an extra door but, but when i sav the trim on the door it is evident that it is from a 1955. Question is if the previous owner had an insight that a 55 door would fit in a 1956 car. I have tried to measure it and measurements looks correct. Will it be a correct door when the and stuff is moved over? both the original door and the replacement has power windows.
As always grateful for tips from the knowledgeable people here.

Martin,
I have both years, and as far as I can tell, the doors do fit. You are correct about the power window option, that has a metal box like piece that houses the window switch that is not present in a door with manual windows.
Other than that, I have not seen any difference between a 55 and a 56.
