Hello All,

Combing through a problematic wiring harness trying to make sure everything is working properly. Ive been jumping power to different connectors to test the components theyre attached to. Ive got everything working except the HVAC control panel and the radio. Im working on the radio now and I came up with a question regarding the power antenna.

On the radio harness there is a brown feed wire for power from the accessory fuse, a wire for up, and a wire for down. The original power antenna unit works like a champ, but the motor keeps running after it reaches its fully raised and fully lowered state. The radio I have is out of commission. There must be a cut out mechanism somewhere in the system. Is this mechanism in the radio itself or is it in the antenna motor? I just want to make sure that I get this working properly so that I dont burn out the motor.

I'd wait til the radio is up and running so you're not chasing windmills.
"Cad Tim" is the guy to call on early power antennae.
If there's no info in the electrical diagram.

I installed mine('58) on a momentary switch when I put a modern radio in that can't handle the amps, so it's manual.   So I don't think the antenna cuts itself off but not sure for '67.   And that fits with your jumper test that it continues to run...

At least in my '73, the switch that turns the
radio on also gives power to the antenna.  Also
turning the radio off causes the antenna to
recede.  That's the cut off / on switch.  If you
have the shop manual for your year you can
check the schematic wire diagram to double
check that info.

In 67 the antenna was not automatic.  To raise the antenna push the tuning knob in and release it when it is up.  To go down pull the knob out.
