Fuel gauge needle fluctuates between full and empty while driving. Fuel gauge or sending unit? Believe sending unit is at top of tank and don't know if it is accessible from the trunk or only from under the car. Anyone have experience with this problem on a '47 series 62 Club Coupe (Sedanette).

That is most likely a wiring problem.  I would take the gauge wire
coming to the tank and ground it.  If the gauge still changes, it
is between your ground and the gauge.  Steady gauge, tank unit
or wiring to it is the problem.  Do make sure the tank ground is
in good shape.  Bruce Roe

Bruce, thanks. I want to make sure I understand your suggestion. Do you mean remove the ground wire from the sending unit and attach it to a body ground?

NOT the tank ground wire, remove the wire coming from the GAUGE
and ground it.  The gauge should go to E and stay there steadily.  If
it does, the problem is wiring around the tank, a failing ground wire
is common.  Bruce Roe
