The Delco that is in there now is a little short under the hold down clamp. is there a 800CCA battery that folks are using that fits in the factory hold down?

I found that there was no large battery with the bottom lugs to use with the factory hold-downs on my '72 Eldo, so I would hazard a guess that '76 should be the same.

I got an 800CCA battery, and fabricated my own clamp.

The 72 has that really cool lever release design. The 76 has a top 'strap'. So any battery lower that original should work with appropriate 'lift' under it. That includes most batteries today.

I have a 75' Eldo with a Duralast 800.

Like, or similar to "Bruce", I bought a small piece of wood, sized it, painted it black and now looks and fits good for the battery clamp.

Sometimes you cant see the trees through the woods I guess. I did not think of simply lifting the battery to the right height! Thanks all.
