Hello,
Can someone tell me the best source for a 1970 Deville Frigidaire model 5910726 code # 051401
Compressor Clutch Bearing.  I want the best bearing i can buy .  And  most important  the right part .  My bearing is just sartiing to sound a little noisy . I had a very  competent  old school air Conditioner  guy diagnose the problem and i want to get this fixed before it gets any worse .

  Thank You ,
        Bill

Original Air in Tampa FL rebuilt the compressor for my 64. They don't list the bearing on their site, but if you call, maybe they'll have one to sell you. 1-813-259-7688

NAPA also carries (or can get) the same bearing as Rock Auto.  It might be a little more money through NAPA, but if you add in shipping cost for Rock Auto, it may be close to the same.  I am like Greg, I prefer SKF—The part number is 5908VAW.  Alternatively, with the part number, you could go to your local bearing supply house and see what quality bearing they have.  Most bearing places stock a cheap (read that "made in China") bearing, and a more expensive (hopefully better quality) bearing.

Hello Bill Conte ,
I had original air group from Tampa rebuild my POA Valve so they were the first people that I called and they do not handle that bearing.

It's really good that you have someone with the tools and skills to change the bearing. Hopefully the rest of the unit is in good shape.

Changing the bearing itself is the simplest part of the job. Press out/press in. The r and r of the clutch plate and the pulley itself can be a challenge

The clutch idler bearing can be changed without losing freon, but
its best to have a couple special tools for the job.  The A6 and R4
use the same bearing.

All those ancient bearings need to be changed out, as the grease
is most likely dried out and ineffective by now.  My 79 went out at
only 22K miles, 5 states from home.  There was smoke, it got so
hot the clutch wiring melted and blew the fuse, which also powered
the alternator.  Fortunately the alternator started without the fuse
anyway at about 1800 rpm, and I got home.  Bruce Roe

I learned the importance of paying attention to the pulley bearings the hard way. Bearing started to freeze and the belts started screaming on my '72. Only solution was to cut the belts and drive home without power steering. Loads of fun in city driving.
