A very informative video. I've been repairing and rebuilding carburetors since 1975, and I have a pretty good understanding of how they work, but I've never had an opportunity to actually see the process of vaporization in such detail before. This is very cool.  It would be interesting to see if they could do one for a multi-cylinder engine where the intake pulses are more frequent and the draw on the fuel is more constant.
Fuel injection systems have been shown before with video and it's obvious how they atomize the fuel. This one required a little bit of work and engineering to demonstrate the principle and the actual process.
Thank you for posting this, I really enjoyed watching it.

Art,

Absolutely fascinating.

My kind'a learning experience when something so universal in our hobby is explained to the point it is understandable by folks who don't talk in a down to you fashion.
I particularly enjoyed the father son dynamic - so cool.

I will look into the Brilliant - Smarter Every Day offer.

Have fun,

Glad you folks enjoyed it. I too have worked on and rebuilt carburetors most of my life, but found this interesting to see someone take the time to film and create such a video to educate himself and others.

I found it amazing that the OLD GUY new more about the mechanics of a carb, then his son the 'mechanical engineer" !!!
Ciao,
Mario Caimotto (I still love my holley fuel injection better, though!!!)

Watching the fuel enter the venturi, you see the vibrations of the engine on the carb.  Dad explains it...

one, two, three, suck.  one, two, three, suck.  one two three suck.

Them southern boys have a way with words.

Yeah, learning how a carb works and seeing it is really neat, but I'm also (and enjoying) seeing an (older) kid having a helluva lot of fun (and learning) with his dad.  Brings back a lot of fun memories.

Thanks for posting this.

;)

One more thing, when I first opened it, I saw it was 25 minutes long.  Ugh!  As I got about halfway through it, I was looking at how much was left, not wanting it to end.

Very interesting and informative video.  Thanks
for posting.  By the way, the "Old Guy" was a
lot smarter than he was letting on -- mentioning
things like "laminar flow", etc.
