Bob Crimmins passed recently.  I would regard this message with caution! It's not likely that he would be communicating from the beyond via e-mail. Moreover, the message is worded and phrased in a peculiar manner which is often indicative of of a sender who is not readily familiar with even basic English grammar and syntax.  Beware!

Ya I would agree that its worded kinda strange and very non specific about anything.   Even if you knew the guy and he used words like that you would expect some sort of detail that even slightly related to the club.    Seems like a scammer that can't even take the time to know what sort of people they are scamming.   Even the mention of a car could make it seem more legit but I suppose they have got caught that way too when they start talking about selling a 59 for $1.

It's a scam.
I received a similar email last month and if you respond there is a request for money.
Ignore it.

I wasn't about to respond for all the reasons mentioned above. I just wanted to make others aware of this.

The "Are you available?" email from a familiar name spam, scam or whatever you want to call it has been going on for several years at this point.  A day usually doesn't go by that I don't get something from our prez Glenn Brown, and have received several from "Pseudo-Bob Crimmins" in the last 2 to 3 days.  I think back in the day I would reply with the link to report spammers to the FBI and FTC and asked if they had additional details they would like me to relay to the authorities, but for the last few years I have ignored them. If you really think someone needs your help (i.e. money), get them on the phone and talk to them in person. You have to use your common sense.

The phrasing is very similar to a series of emails I've gotten from an official in another group I'm in.  Given that I've traded paint with the official in question on a few occasions, I've been mighty tempted to respond with some less-than-kind words to get a little stress off my chest about my unwillingness to help with the "confidential task" in question (said officer has either not been entirely honest during some meetings or failed to follow through with promises made in said meetings).

The erratic capitalization comes to mind as an easy red flag, as does saying "credence" instead of "confidence".

C'mon Greg, help out the world. Correspond with the man, let him tell you how much money he wants. He'll tell you to send it to the local Wal-Mart. Call the local police and tell them Mr. X  will be there at such and such a time to pick up (the dollar) you have sent to him, and a good local police department can nab him, get his computer and dole out some proper punishment.
I've come within a whisker of catching two of these characters, but no arrests yet. One was for a '37 LaSalle Coupe, the other was for parts. The police blew it both times, but there's always a chance you could succeed and have some satisfaction.
For certain he's going to move on to the next guy. With just a little work you might catch him collecting the money. He doesn't know you sent him a dollar. He thinks he's going to cash in.
