I got the numbers from my Cadillac 472 engine today. Would like confirmation that this is a '71 block and heads. The first digit was hard to tell if it was a 0 or 6 but after it was a space the rest of the number reads  10192 20 so it could be either 0 10192 20 or 6 10192 20

Both heads were numbered 1497902 with the number 65 below it

Any clarification or information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

David

70-76 472 and 500 blocks are 1485200 so nothing like the number you are looking at.  68-69 is 1486238.   77-79 was 1609110.  80 1615255  81 1620734.     Are you sure you are looking at the block casting number?  Those usually are not that hard to read and are more on the passenger side of the oil sending unit.   The serial numbers are the ones that are usually difficult to read and are more on the drivers side.

The 902 head is the most common small chamber (76cc) head that was used 70-73.

If it out of the car drop the oil pan and see what the crank number is.  1486424 is the 68-74 472 crank.  1496793 and 1495094 are the 500's.
