Hay all I'm at the end of my rope i have rebuilt my Carter carb i have replaced my cracked intake manifold new fuel pump pulled the fuel tank cleaned it added a new strainer sock and filters capped all vac ports except the distributor advance. I played with all my adjustments and still i cant get rid of the throttle up bough and stall. The only way i can throttle up without the issue is to cup the carb with my hand or close the choke down. I timed it all seems good but still the issue exists. Help Thanks Robert

What brand kit did you use for the rebuild?

Make sure the secondary  throttles are completely  closed.  Try using a small propane tank around the carb base and intake manifold checking for any change in engine rpm, use very little doing this as some may get pulled into the carb and fool you. It is running lean as I am sure you know.

That definitely sounds like a lean stalling or bogging condition. You may want to check the accelerator pump for fit in the bore, and the bore for any scoring that might cause fuel to leak past the pump. Also check the check ball and spring or retainer that prevents the pump from drawing air or any fuel in the discharge passages back into the pump bore instead of drawing fresh fuel from the bowl. A missing or stuck check ball will cause the bogging or stall condition just like a bad plunger will.

Edit:  does the engine run at higher speed if you remove your hands, or will it die at that point?

Does the carb bog down after the engine is good and warmed up?

G'day Robert,

You have an email from the Moderators that requires your attention.

You were sent one on the 19th July, and then stopped posting, and now you have posted again, still ignoring the initial request.
