1941 Cadillac Series 63 Under Door Strip

Please see attached front photos. I'm not sure what this area is called, but I am wondering if there is an insert that is supposed to be installed under the rubber strip. My rear strips are secure, but it looks like someone installed them on top of a piece of roofing shingle.

Would also like recommendations on type of adhesive I should use to secure the rubber strip.

John, The door sill rubber is vulcanized to a thin metal piece with clips that go into the series of holes you see in the picture. The rubber you have appears to be fairly thin runner type material. If you check some of the vendors you can find thicker material with a pattern closer to the original type. There is a vendor (in Canada I think) that will reproduce those pieces as original but they are very expensive. If you decide on placing the rubber directly to the sill you can use contact cement or even double sided tape. Harry
