Ha all My 1963 series 62 doesn't have an oil slinger. I'm doing a timing gear and chain set. It's never been opened up. Is their a reason that this isn't their. It also didn't have the crank pulley mounting reinforcement plate. I found a slinger on eBay for a 1962 are they the same or does anybody have one or both of the items. Thanks

1963 is when the design change came. Is it the old design used in early '63 and prior or the new design which in late '63 became the 429? If it didn't have one it may not have been used in that particular short run of the engine.

Jason Edge or Russ Austin would be the best two, to contact for this answer.

No oil slinger in the 63 or 64.  I do have the crank pulley reinforcement plate if you need it. Send me an email; russ@thecadishack.com

Heat only 1963/64 Cadillacs did not come with the  crankshaft pulley reinforcement plate (washer ring) but there is no reason why you cannot add one. You will probably want to switch out with from the 5/16"-18, 1/2" long bolts to the 5/16"-18, 5/8" long bolts used with the 63/64's with 3 groove crank pulley and the plate to compensate for the plate thickness.
I have a reinforcement plate painted Cadillac blue for $5, and can set you up with the six 5/16"-18, 5/8" long bolts and six lock washers, all original TR stamped bolts and with new gold cadmium plating for $10, and ship all 2-3 Day Priority for $10 for a total of $25.  I have seen these with either the split lock washers are the external tooth lock washers, and will included either with that price .... so your choice.
If interested in plate and/or bolts/washers email me at jasonedge@nc.rr.com.

Since he is doing a timing chain and removing the crank pulley and not the pan, I'd imagine he is talking about an actual oil slinger.

I checked the 1965 Master Parts Book and the "Front End of Crankshaft Oil Slinger" was indeed only used up until 1962:
Parts Group 0.6438, 1956 after eng. No 103792; 1957 thru 1962 ...... Part # 146 5461.
