Were all 1952s with hood and trunk emblem crests that are painted gold instead of red because of the golden anniversary? Thanks!

Not sure about what you are asking but if your
question is was the crest all gold covered the
answer is NO.

Look at the McVey's site on the internet.  They
reproduce crests for most of the 50's - 60's Cadillacs.
The crest they show has a gold metal backing with
a multicolored insert similar to the other 50's hood
crests.  I would post a link but our site does not
allow that.

Now I understand your question.

Perhaps this is a "1952 only" design for the crest.
I'm quite frankly not sure -- but if your crest
matches the E-Bay one, I strongly suspect that's
the original color.

Hopefully, somebody with a 1952 will see this
question and confirm what is correct.

What I suspect too Mike, thanks, it may also be that this was not for all 1952s but some plants or dealerships got them? Love mysteries like this, hope as you say that other 1952 owners may know more.

I own a 52 caddy, Fleetwood Sixty Special
My hood has the red version as per the one at McVey's, and the trunk has the Gold plated V along with gold Fleetwood script.
And  I was at a local show here in NY a few years ago where a 52 convertible was being shown. His car was the same as mine.
Hope it helps
Here are photos from my 52

I would say that yours and the eBay one, the red has faded away over time. If there was two versions they would be listed in the Master Parts Book. I find no mention of it.

Red fading into gold?
