A friend of mine just told me he saw a PBS episode on Lasalles and Cadillacs. Ive tried to search for it on the PBS web sight but cant find it. Has any one out there seen the episode and could maybe point me in the right direction to get a copy.

Google turned up a PBS Nova show about Robert De La Salle, the explorer who took a title he wasnt "entitled" to. Thats where GM got the Cadillac and La Salle names, French explorers. Couldnt find a show about the cars.

Roberts probably correct that it was the Nova episode, but it might also be "Great Cars" which in Houston is aired on Sunday morning.  Its a British show, but usually features American marques. Theyve had Cadillac, but I havent seen one on La Salles yet.

Actually, Rene Robert Cavelier, "Sieur de La Salle" was fully entitled to his name. Check it out:

Its that other "scoundrel", Antoine Laumet, self-styled Antoine de Lamothe-Cadillac, who usurped the title and coat of arms of a noble neighbor of his in Frances Tarn and Garonne region. Check it out too:

Its incredible the wealth and variety of information related to Cadillac and LaSalle automobiles that you can find in the CLCs own "Cadillac Database".

Try a Google search on: " lasalle automobile database "

I had "Great Cars" "Cadillac" on tape. It had been several months since Id seen it, but on playing the tape, Im sure thats the PBS program your friend was referring to as it did include La Salle. They apparently didnt make too many of that series as Ive seen several more than once. Its more accurate than most, by the way.
