This is the information I have found on my engine.
It turns over by hand.Still has oil in it.
I thought my father-in-law told me this engine was from a Hurse?
I think it is a great piece of history and want to find out what ever I can about this engine.
Can someone please identify it for me.
Thanks,
Brian

I assume that this is a Cadillac V8....!  There were in-line 8 cylinder engines too, but Ill assume that its a Cadillac. First, even that it could have been in a hearse, it could have been a LaSalle.

Depending on where the serial number is stamped on the block, the year could be told from it. On engines prior to 1942, the engine number was stamped on the crankcase behind the left hand cylinder bank. From 1942-1948, the engine number was stamped on a smooth extension of the cylinder deck, just above the water pump.

On the pre-1942 blocks, the engine unit number is an alpha-numeric number stamped also on the rear of the block behind the left cylinder bank. The letter in that number tells the model year of the engine. Starting with 1936, the number A was that year. Then, each year, the letter advanced one, such that 1941 would have an F in the engine unit number. That continued through 1948.

Hope that this helps.

I would need more information to pinpoint this engine , but this is what I got from what you gave. The firing order is not V8,but does match LaSalle and other striaght 8s. The starter number would be  727N******.  THe carb is a Stromberg two barrel downdraft 34-early35 is 1 1/2 bore, models 35-50&36-50 the bore is 1 inch nominal . The generator model  935L is an extra capacity Aero Volt model used on any Delco equiped vehical with extra equipment (example: more lights, heater or radio)
The engine number should be on the front of the right side of the block just below the cylinder head.
     Model        engine #s
  1934 350   2100001-2106169
  1935 350   2106170-2107232
  1935 -50   2200001-2208653
  1936 -50   2210001-2223004

Conclusion, the engine may well be a LaSalle 35 or 36 from a hearse or ambulance. Warren
