Further to my previous post.
This is definately a Straight 8 Cylinder GM engine.
The serial # on left side of block is L33I74. This # is 4 from front of block on the left side.
Distributor Model #662N (dual point)
Serial #17591
Starter #727H - 11114
The Stromberg 2BBL Carb #P-19401 1 1/32
Patent #s 1404879, 1545821, 1645341
I will try to take some pictures of this engine if I have somewhere to show them.

  The engine is from a 1934 Oldsmobile.
  8cyl motor # range 17270-42749 The L on the front of the number is lacking in the listing I found for 34,35&36. the same source does include it for 1933&1937 8cyl models (6cyl models start with a F)  But the starter #, dist # and discription of dist are the exact numbers. THe carb is a stromberg 1 nominal bore. Two generators were used models 935-F &935-M ,your model 935-L is a non -std option. Warren
