brake calipers

please help....Ive got a 1997 cadillac deville up on jack
stands to change brake pads...done it many times but, never on a caddy....problem...ive got calipers off (hose still connected)
and want to depress brake cylinders down to allow for new pads....they wont move...neither side will depress(using c-clamp and old brake pad) they just wont move...is there some trick???are the cylinders just frozen open???i dont want to force them if im not doing it right  PLEASE HELP

Mike, have replaced pads on an 86, should be about the same as on a 97. I used a C clamp to compress the pistons back, it took some force to over-come the initial move-but after that, it was smoove sailing.

Are you talking about the Rear or the Front Brake?

Are you working on the end of the car that the emergency brakes are on? Im not sure about your Cadillac, but some vehicles require that the caliper pistons be rotated out if the e-brake cable actuates the caliper piston. If so, auto parts stores carry an inexpensive tool that you can put on a socket extension to rotate them or you can improvise.

im talkin about front brake clipers...they dont seem
to want to depress, and im afraid of forcing them...
also about to pull rear brake discs and noticed theres only one bolt on bottom of disc assembly and a rubber insert on top....what gives??
