A while back there was offered a R.M. NIXON Talisman with discussion on this board as to it being real or not. The person that bought the car researched the following:
Yes, it was the real deal; the car was used by the Nixons from 74 until about 78 when they sold it to an Army General from San Diego, who was their good freind. The Generals wife donated the car to the San Diego Kidney Foundation after he died about 3 years ago. The guy I bought from bought it at thier auction. The mechanic that remembered it said it was purchased at another dealership, but serviced at the one he worker at. (I cant remember the name, but its the only one in Laguna Niguel.) He said the car was ordered in the brown and tan because Nixon (who has JUST resigned in 8/74) rarely left his compound and didnt want to be noticed on the rare occasions that he did, which is why he didnt want a black car.

The service magr. also mentioned that Pat Nixon had a white 74 Sedan DeVille and that the dealership serviced the Presidential limo while Nixon was still in office and was in San Clemente

WM Link,

That is a great story, glad to hear it really was Nixons car.

Not that a celebrity owned car always bring much more money, the fact that the Talisman pulled to the right made for some great humor, although Nixon was much less conservative than people realize.
