I dont understand because:

when i align the mark on the both pulley of timing chain, the shop manual tell : ingnition on teh 6 cylinder.
but when i align teh damper lmark with the mark block engine; it is the 1 cylinder!

I align the damper on the block and the engine do not work, only fire in carburator.
what is the good procedure please?
regards

Some of the timing chain sets are backwards, on #1 cylinder compression stroke when both marks are straight up, instead of aligned with each other.  I dont know why, but I have seen this too.

Just make sure that you are on the #1 compression stroke and put your distributor in with the rotor pointing at the number 1 wire.
