Does anyone out there know of a book or manual to translate  casting numbers on old Caddys? I have mountains of heads, waterpumps, manifolds ect that I must identify. All 49 to 60 Caddy. I would pay for xerox or better copies. Thanks!!!!

I dont personally have anything but you might be on the look out for these:

Catalog of American Car I D Numbers, 1950-59
Catalog of American Car I D Numbers, 1960-69
Catalog of American Car I D Numbers, 1970-79

All three are published by Motorbooks International, Car & Parts Magazine. I believe Ive seen these books for sale in the automotive section at Barnes & Noble or Borders bookstores.

Also, maybe this book:

Catalog of Chevy V8 Engine Casting Numbers 1955-93 and Stamped Numbers (Matching Numbers Series) also by Cars & Parts Magazine

You need a Master Parts List from the appropriate era. They are usually pricey. You might check with Walter Miller. He should have a web site as he is a very large literature collector and dealer. If you have a mountain of these parts, the cost will seem insignificant when you have started selling them. Good luck. (There are way, way, WAY too many pages to Zerox.) The ones at my desk are both at least three inches thick.

Hi Barry. I have all the master parts lists, yes they cost an arm and a leg. 53 and back, 54-59, 59-64, and 64-69. They have all the group numbers and part numbers, but no casting numbers. John.

You could try this http://www.aacncclub.com/ TARGET=_blank>http://www.aacncclub.com/

They claim to have lots of casting numbers available but you have to join up to access them. I havent joined so I have no idea if they are any good or not.  Does any body else have any experience with them?

Regards,  Ian.
