As I near the end of a lengthy 6219D $edan re$toration, I am about to mount/fasten the chromium hood vents, fender spears, etc.

> Did these items have rubber under them originally ?
My concern is that they will ding the paint {Antinette Blue (chroma 1 DuPont brand)} when tightened in place - causing rust in the years ahead.

The trim parts you mentioned do not have rubber behind them. The only trim parts with rubber behind them are the taillight bases, the rear license light base, and the windshield wiper transmissions(bases). Many cars have rubber under the trunk hinges, but they are not listed in my body parts book.
