A local friend has purchased some NOS GM Parts (99percent Chevy).

However there is one Cadillac part still in its original wrapper.
The part number is 363 1951 Unfortunately no Group # is shown.

The part is a long heavy guage Stainles Steel Molding
Measuring just under 70 inches long, it has a slight curve inward at (RH) end.

Possibly a rocker, body floor sill or running board mldg  ???

In cross section  it is a modifed L section

Starting from the top:  a vertical flange about an inch high,
with holes about 10 on center.
At the Bottom of this flange the molding projects outward towards the viewer about 3/8
and then has a highly polished vertical section about 3/4 high
which then wraps back underneath at 90 degrees away from
the viewer and has several attatching tabs about 7 oc in
paired sets farther apart.

At the right hand end the molding curves inward slightly,
the upper flange end about 6 inches short and there is a
seperate shorter flange for this part angled slightly to match the curve.

It seems to me that ONLY the Highly Polished 3/4 high section
would normally be visable, with either another molding or perhaps some form of upholstery covering the upper flange
when installed

I have looked through my parts books (42-69) in what I think
are appropriate(?)group number sections and find similar numbered mldgs with the 363 19xx format listed for some late 50e early 60s model Cadillacs in my Master Parts books.

But cant find.... 363 1951 !

I have also checked the Supersession lists in the
front pages of the Master Parts books

If any one has an original PRICE LIST from this or a later era
would it list the group number for this part ?

Would appreciate any help or even Educated Guesses as to this parts application.
So we may find it a proper and worthy home.

I do have some nearly current all GM Lines price books
that give the Group # and a code for which Car/Truck
lines use that particular part number.

Would like to find out generaly if any one does have any
OLDER Factory Parts Price Lists of this era, do they give
the group number associated with each part number ?

Thanks for your assistance,

The molding is in group (1965UP#) 12.116c . IT fits 1958 series 60S. This group is Rear Quarter trim, outer, center and the location (1968 book) as Below scalp moulding on top of panel. The part number should include the mounting clips and hardware. In my 1960 book the moulding is sold separate from the hardware. Warren

Dear Warren,

Thank you very much for your help.

I am curious though about what you mean by

            1965 UP #

is this a Price list ?  or Parts listing ?

Do you have any Older Cadillac PRICE BOOKS
I am just curious to their format.

I will pass this on to my friend, watch for it on E-Bay soon.

Thanks again.

Cadillac in 1965 was forced to change to GM parts groups. THe group 12.116c is the newer GM group. The group number from 1958 would have been in the 30.000 to 35.000 range.
I have three numerical price lists (1971,1967&1948) that all list the part number, group number and price on one line. These are not the same as master parts books, which list parts applications. Warren
