Dexron/Mercon is what you want.  This has been discussed on more than one occasion here.  Up near the right hand corner click on "Search", type in "hydramatic transimission fluid" and select General Discussion; it will bring up several postings, some of which should also be helpful.

Thanks for the info, the guy at the auto parts store said the same thing, figured Id check with the experts before topping off.

Dexron III is what you should be using. If you buy the AC Delco brand that is GMs brand and you should have no problems.
