Some Cadillacs did well some not so well ....

Chris Arneson

Another 1955 Eldorado just rolled across the block, which was fun to was to watch.  It was identical to my project, which added a special twist.  It went for $65K.

I noticed that the rear wheel well trim was missing and it looked like the body man cut some corners by not properly repairing the wheel cut out.

It was also missing the bright strip that follows along the bulge on the rear quarter panel.

Otherwise a good looking car...

I think this is a mistake. Lou:

That car sold for $9,720 [an odd price, granted, but thats what I saw as it went across the block].

I was watching this 1960 cadillac serois 62 convertible hit final bid of 79000 one grand less that what ir cost restore it.I forgot add in buyers fees with figure etc.

Car was not even an eldorado but grille was so shiny and looked brand new. I could not beilve it since it was not even eldo . Why would an person pay much for serois 62 non eldo. On ebay or car lot etc cant get 50000 or 60000 tops.

Last year they sold an 1960 eldo for 77180  in 2005 at auction.

I guess they overpaid big time for an grey serois 62 convetible. It was an nice car but t plain jain car.

 Stange other 1957 eldo sold 50000 and 1956 or 1955 went 65000.

Those paeple went nuts buying that plain jain 1960 convertible. They could have bought an real 1960 eldo convertible for that money.

Strange I know guy trying sell cadillac bob cadillac for 72500. Its an real eldo with factory bucket seats with all new nos trim , new paint. Bob had since 1971. Its in hemmimg and been ebay serval times. They cant sell it Its red with black interior. They asking 72500 for this super nice eldo with history etc, in hemming, ebay etc. They should have sold at barret jackson and maybe sold over say an over 100k or more with peaple paying for 80000 for plain jain cadillac convertible.

I guess that auction gets peaple to pay more than worth on certain cars. T

They paid over 200k for an black and red vette with 1967 435 427. but an green vette of same stuff sold maybe 100k. Custom built cloan cars etc going for more money than real thing.

It has me idea. Buy an 1970 cuba restored for 25000 spend 25000 to convert it hemi run at auction sale for over 100k easy next year ????

Its sad those hypeed auctions are bringing so much money etc. They bring more money than autotrader, hemming, or ebay etc.

Some peaple never be able sale for what they paid for unless they sold at barret jackson next year. On open market they cant sale for that money.

Maybe someday I will sale my restored rebuilt 1960 eldo convertible there. It will be black with red interior, etc Built to hilt an totol brand new old car perfcet show car. I got an long time to go before my car rebuilt soon.

Our cars, just went up a whole lot in value!!!!

That pile of rust in my garage, just doubled in value.

I was expecting that car to go for $48,000.  Shocked at the price it went for.

I wont say it was perfect, but that engine compartment on that 60 was awesome.  That car looked every bit like $80k was spent on a restoration.

Ill send you the pic this weekend of the decklid, I got alot of sandblasting to do.

Just to let you know my friend who bot my 60 Eldo Biarittz 2 years ago with the bucket seats sold it last Thursday to Randy from La. He flew into Boston last Wednesday and I picked him and his wife up thursday morning at the hotel and drove them to Freds house where the car was. It took no longer then about 20 minutes and he bot it. Yes, he was asking less a while back but since then 2 other people came to look at it and he was offered much more for it. Was a bidding war going on between the 2 of them and price was up to 82k. About a week later Randy called about the car was told all about its history and the next thing I heard he and his wife flew in from La to see it. The rest is history. There was no question in muy mind that if he took it to the Barret auction he would of easily gotten at least 100k for it,but when you deduct the auction fees and transportation costsd he would of ended up with about 85k. So thats it,Dale. Always remember the best of the best always get the highest price. Ill sure miss it as I wont see it anymore.

Bob, Just happened across your message and thought i would reply. My wife and I were so thankful that you picked us up from the hotel and took us to see your old car. From the time i first talked with You, Fred and Carl I felt sure about the Car and its history. I surely wouldnt have flown out from California if i hadnt. You should be very proud of your reputation and of all of the knowledge you have accumulated over the years. I dont feel to bad for you regarding my 1960 Eldorado since you have that beautiful white 1960 Eldo sitting in front of you. You should also know that if ever in Southern California that you are welcome to visit your Red car any time you please. Melanie and I also loved the Boogie Woogie sounds that you were able to bang out on your piano. You are multi-talented!

Just a note to Dale to keep his head up! Things do have a way of turning around.

Thanks, Randolph Hane

How about the 41-61D coupe that sold for the price of a very nice 40-90 sedan ($75.600.00), touted as probably the best pre-war non-restored example and clearly showing the engine painted gold. Must have been a commemorative edition.
