What is the correct paint color for a 41 hydramatic transmission?  Is the ring gear/torus cover pan the same color?

My car, which as far as I know is original, has an unpainted transmission and flywheel cover - which does not seem to make sense.  What ever coating that the factory had applied appears to have been a bonderizer or some other colorless coating as the surfaces show no rust except where the surface has been scuffed.

The whole power pack was initially painted engine green for all of the years it was built (except, of course, the military engines).

In the firat years of Hydra-Matic, there were campaigns (recalls) for uopdating. I would suspect that yours might have been a complete replacement transmission for some reason. All of that would be lost in history.

Thanks for the reply.  I suspected the lack of paint was unusual.
