1966 vin# where are they

I am trying to find the vin # on my recently purchased 1966 eldorado,the tag on the door jamb is plastic which shows #E6199937 but I was told there are #s stamped in the frame and on the engine . can anyone tell me where?

Page 29 of the February 2006 issue of The Self-Starter addresses this very subject, with an accompanying illustration.

For 1958-1967, the engine number is on the top surface of the engine block forward of the valve cover on the right side. The matching chassis number is on the front lefthand frame side next to the radiator with a "star" on either side of the number.
