Hello. My rear ashtray lid is painted woodgrain. But, there is no other painted woodgrain in the car (window trim is wood like termites eat). Should these lids be a solid paint color or woodgrain finished?

Hi Ty,

Mine and all the ones I have seen are wood grain paint. This matches the timber window garnish mouldings and sill panels (that termites eat and dry rot loves) when they are veneered correctly with walnut veneer. If yours is an Imperial with the divider window then the rolled sill below the divider window is also veneered in burl walnut.

Interestingly, the Fisher bodied 75 series have painted garnish mouldings.

If you are painting the ashtrays that 12 of yours must be nearly ready to roll!!

Regards,

John Tozer
