Ok, so now I have the channel welded to the track, Does any one know of a place that makes the round rubber pieces that attach to the regulator arms that slide in the track to make the windows go up and down?  The metal parts are all ok but the rubber (or plastic?) is shot.  I tried restoration specialties, but no luck.

Thanks

This guy seems to have all the rare bits.

Matt,

What year is your car ?

On my 66 CDV drivers door the rear nylon roller wore out and popped out of the track. I found a similar nylon roller at the hardware store, drilled out the old rivet and bolted the new one on with a machine screw, works fine and will last forever.

In the past here some have said you need new window regulators, not always feasible.

Ive used the same rollers from the hardware store, they are used on sliding shower screens.

I found the rollers I needed for my 57 at Danchuk the tri 5 Chevy supplier. Try this link tp see if it looks like what you need.

Porter raises a good point -- hardware stores can be a great source for little oddball things. Make sure you go to an old-time hardware store though where small parts like these rollers are kept in open trays so you can poke through them and find exactly what you need. Also, you can find good replacement screws like the oval-headed screws that are considerably more expensive if ordered from a restoration supply house. When I restored the cornering lights on my 63 I got all new stainless screws at the local True Value. I even made the little rubber gaskets for the screws out of grommets which I cut in half -- all from the True Value.

Lucas,

I found it at a true value hardware store, just removed the rivet head on the factory roller and bolted it on with a machine screw.

After I cleaned and re-greased all the tracks the windows zip up and down easily, that old grease hardens up and becomes non existent after many years, the windows can also be adjusted much better than factory, that includes the doors, hood, trunklid, etc.

My 66 CDV fit and finish is way better than factory new now.
