Does anyone know why a 39 LaS would have a 7 number engine serial number starting with 6 and ending with a *.  I dont think the surplus engines had any numbers stamped where the LaS engine numbers were factory stamped.  Did any Cad engines from this period start with a 6?  What would the * mean (special order??)?  Thanks John R. John- It suggests your engine isnt original- but from a 60 Special (If its a 39 engine). Put in all the numbers, and we can tell the year of manufacture.
