Its Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise Week here in the Motor City!

I was just wondering if there are any Cadillac LaSalle Club activities going on or if there is a generally agreed-upon preferred area that the Cadillac fans congregate.  Up in Pontiac at the old Cadillac dealership perhaps?

My trusty, rusty 76 Convertible will make a brief appearance and if the 58 Brougham #406 is deemed reliable enough by Friday, it might make a run also.

Is this event known to the general club membership?  We consider it a big deal here in the Detroit area, since you have to plan your driving trips around it becasue of the traffic jams of old cars.  Of course, 50s - 60s vintages are the hippest.

Saw this on a auto blog site:

(excerpted)
• Well, as we said yesterday, its "fin-fest" tonight over at Potbellys at 6:00 PM...where the Cadillac LaSalle Club will be congregating. Well be driving, thank you -- no more pedestrian-related tickets for us.

• If you havent caught all of the coverage so far, nows a good time to catch up by checking out and bookmarking the 2006 Woodward Dream Cruise mini-site and for the geeks, drop this into your feed reader.

• Weve heard from the folks at the General that theyve got a "sneak preview" of GM vehicles and exhibits at the Athens Coney Island, thatll be open to the public Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m. The exhibit will feature 24 automotive icons including; a 1931 16-cylinder dual-windshield Cadillac touring car, a 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge, the 1959 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Racer, the turbine-powered Firebird I concept car and a 1956 Saab Sonett SS. Theyve also included a replica of the 1954 Cadillac Series 62 coupe that finished third in class at the 1954 La Carrera Panamericana Mexican road race. It was recently restored by the Generals Performance Division, and the 54 Cadillac will be driven this November in the 2006 version of the race. [Hat tip to Jan T. on this one!]

• We met up Murray Pfaff of Pfaff Designs last night, the mans cool as all get out -- and hes gonna show us his "FYR MKR" tonight -- something weve been looking forward to for a while. (1956 Sedan deVille Custom)

• Wertll be out again in full force for you to show off your classic, custom or cool car on Thursday night -- just head on over to the Starbucks in downtown Birmingham from 5:30PM to 7PM if youre interested in having us profile it. Or set up an alternate time with him yourself by e-mailing him at ray@jalopnik.com

Are there going to be any web cams that we can log onto?

Dugans Pub is basically ground zero for the Woodward Ave Dream Cruise and their webcam is supposed to be available from the WXYZ TV site which is:

(but when i went there just now there was no video stream working.  How frusto!)
