Will a crankshaft from a 56 365 fit a 55 331?

Paul W Allen CLC#20193

Chris,

According to the Master Parts Book, no. The 55 is listed by itself, with a different part # than the 56. The 55 is part # 363 0589. the 56 thru 58 is part # 146 8023. Hope this helps.

Chris,
The main bearing journal is larger for 1956, it wont fit in the 1955 block. The end of the crankshaft is also not the same as the flywheel with ring gear is bolted directly on the crankshaft for 1955 (and earlier). For 1956 (and later), there is a flywheel drive plate between the crankshaft and the flywheel with ring gear.

Thank you both Paul and Roger for the information.

Anyone need a rebuilt 56-58 crankshaft?

Chris.
