My mechanic tells me that my 99 DeVille has a bad Left Rear Upper Control Arm.  Looking at my parts book, the thing looks vaguely like a horseshoe, made of cast aluminum.  I found an online price at NewCadillacParts.com of $456.  I found a used part from a junk car for $200.  Can anyone tell me whether I should just buy a new part or whether I can safely use a used part.

There should be no problem using a used control arm providing the part is in good serviceable condition.

Just make sure the bushings are in good shape and the arm is not bent or cracked.
