Indiana change in license plate law (historic)

Howdy all,
Good news! Like many other states, it looks like we Hoosiers will eventually get to use matching year authentic license plates on our antique cars after December 31st 2007. (Beginning in the 2008 year) It appears that this will work for 1962 and earlier. (Beginning in 1963, the numbering system is the same as used today. Starting with a two digit numerical code for the county of residence, then a single letter alpha code followed by a four digit sequential series. According to the new law, when registering an authentic matching year plate to an antique auto, the plate number cannot conflict with a plate number sequence currently in use.) Probably if a plate can be found that does not conflict, 1963 and newer can do it also? For example, I have some old HAM radio plates. They have unique numbers associated with the vehicle owners HAM radio license number at that time and would probably be acceptable... I wonder if a person could reserve a specific new plate with a number that matched the one of the vintage plate? Then just use the vintage one on the car? Hmmmmm..... Purely speculation of course...

 There are two laws that apply. Indiana code IC 9-18-12-2.5 and IC 9-18-12-1.
