Hello,

I am thinking of purchase a 1960 Fleetwood. It´s a low mileage car, original paint, has a/c, power windows, six way, power vents, cruise, central locking, autronic, power trunk, eldorado hubcaps, the car has it´s original upholstery and all the trim in very good condition.  Now the odd question, what it´s worth?
I know it´s a not easy to respond question, but since I am in Spain, there is no variety to choose from. The car drives like new.

Merry christmas.

Gday Augusto,

What you are asking is the $64,000 question.

All I can advise is it is worth what you want to pay for it.

Having said that, I am sure that as soon as you pass the money over, there will always be others becoming available, and probably cheaper.

BUT, if the car in in Spain, and you can physically check it out personally, then half the job is done.

As for a fair price?

Well, if you factor in buying a similar vehicle in USA, then the cost of transportation, Customs Duties, etc, etc, you should be able to deduce a reasonable price.

Sorry I cant be more objective with a simple "Dollar" value.

To get a good idea of the value of the car, try

http://www.manheimgold.com/ TARGET=_blank>http://www.manheimgold.com/

You click on the make (Cadillac), and year, and then select the model and condition. It will come up with an approximate value in U.S. dollars.  You could use this as a starting point in your negotiations.

This works for most any antique car and goes back into the 1930s. A good source.

In Spanish:

Para obtener una idea buena del valor del coche, la prueba

http://www.manheimgold.com/ TARGET=_blank>http://www.manheimgold.com/

Thanks for all the responses.

I have some pictures of the car. I can email pictures of the car for having the most accurate opinion. IS there any of you that willing to help?

Thanks and sorry for my ignorance.

Do you know if the car was imported to Spain already in 1960 or if it came to your country much later ?  Puedes contestar en espanol pero yo prefiero escribirle en ingles, OK?

Augusto

Ok, no problem. The car was imported to Spain from pennsylvania in the early 80´s. It has covered less than 2000 miles since then.

Just looked at price in that gold book, says show condition 15k. Youve got to be kidding. I sure would like to find on in show condition for 15k.

I just checked out the manheimgold also, those prices are very very low.

HI Again.

I checked another source, the NADA Book.  They list a 1960 Fleetwood with A/C in Excellent Condition for $23,210.  Average Retail (A clean vehicle in good condition) for $14,795  and one in fair condition for $7,728.  These values seem a little more in line with the scarcity of the car.

Augusto

Thank you all for your responses and the links for the guides.
I finaly bought the car, not many chances to buy such a car and not so many to choose from.

I need some parts, basically spark plugs, wires, gaskets etc.

Do you know of a good vendor? USA parts Supply are very slow on shipping to here, and last time I bought from Kanter I received some "Made in Taiwan" parts that of course were thrown against the wall.

Mc Vey´s perhaps?

Thanks in advance,

Augusto
