Art,
I dont know how you did it, but Im very glad you were able to pull it off.  I cant begin to tell you how excited I am!  Not only are there going to be plenty of Cadillacs and LaSalles at this meet on July 7th, but they are going to be uniting at the famous AACA Museum in Hershey. Is the show restricted to just Cadillacs?  How much does it cost to enter your car in the show?  Thank you.  Corey

I would like to repeat Art Archambeault's invitation to attend the Cadillac & LaSalle Club show at the AACA Museum in Hershey, PA on Saturday July 7.  This event, co-sponsored by the Central Pennsylvania Region and the Upper Susquehanna Region, promises to be well-attended.  Awards will be given for the best Cadillac of each decade, as well as a Best of Show and a Long-Distance award.

Attending this show will also give you an opportunity to see the AACA Museum's new exhibit featuring "America at Speed".  This exhibit includes a 1950 Cadillac Series 61 coupe that has been restored by the GM Heritage Center to resemble the car that Briggs Cunningham raced at 24 Hours of LeMans.  The Museum's 115-vehicle exhibit includes other Cadillacs as well, including a 1912 model (first year of the self-starter) and a 1976 Eldorado convertible.

AutoWeek recently named the AACA Museum as one of the 16 best car museums in the entire world -- an even more remarkable accomplishment because this museum is strictly hobby-supported, not underwritten by a manufacturer or a major donor.

Those who want to make a weekend of it should try to make reservations at the Spring Hill Suites hotel, which is adjacent to the AACA Museum.  At 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, we will have a CLC group dinner at a nearby restaurant called Sasha's Hideaway (www.sashashideaway.com).

At 10 a.m. on Sunday morning July 8, we have scheduled a tour of the nearby AACA Library and Research Center.  Librarian Kim Miller will be on hand to greet tour participants and explain how to make use of the Library's resources.  Visitors to this facility are always amazed at the huge amount of reference material available to hobbyists and restorers.

For more information about the Hershey event, you may contact Art Archambeault at 717-671-8768 or "jandainpa2002@yahoo.com".  Art is the Activities Director for the Central Pennsylvania Region.

The AACA Museum was the site of the CLC Inter-Regional Meet held on July 7, 2007, co-sponsored by the Central Pennsylvania and Upper Susquehanna Regions.   Besides the host Regions, the Valley Forge Region, the Pittsburgh Region, the Raritan River Region and the Potomac Region were represented among the participants in the show.

Thirty-eight cars attended, with an outstanding variety and quality, including a 1922 Cadillac, a 1932 Cadillac All-Weather-Phaeton, a 1941 Cadillac convertible coupe, a 1947 Cadillac convertible, a Cadillac-powered 1952 Allard J2X, a 1954 Eldorado, a 1955 Cadillac convertible, a 1957 Coupe deVille, three 1959 Cadillacs, a 1976 Eldorado Bicentennial convertible, and many other fine cars.
A number of club members came without cars (from as far away as New York and Virginia) just to see the show and visit the Museum.  Quite a few folks had not previously visited the Museum, but this show gave them a reason to come and visit it.  Several people noted that the Museum far surpassed even their highest expectations of what it would be like.

The AACA Museum recently introduced its new exhibit, "America at Speed", which among other cars features a 1950 Cadillac Series 61 Coupe, restored by the GM Heritage Center to replicate the car raced by Briggs Cunningham at 24 Hours of LeMans when the car was new.

After the car show ended, Art and Jan Archambeault, the Central Penn Region's premier host and hostess, opened their home to showgoers, providing cold drinks, cheese and crackers, fresh fruit, snacks, and delightful conversation to finish off the afternoon.  Then, the ever-hungry Cadillac group adjourned to Sasha's Hideaway in Linglestown for a really outstanding gourmet dinner.  On Sunday morning, we visited the AACA Library and Research Center in Hershey, where Librarian Kim Miller demonstrated the great wealth of knowledge and automotive information that is available to the hobby.

The class awards at the Museum show were Slatington clocks, each consisting of a large sculptured piece of genuine Pennsylvania slate with an inset clock.  No two pieces of slate are identical; each is a unique treasure and conversation piece.  Thanks to Stanley Sipko for the idea of giving out these great awards.

Congratulations to the show winners, and thanks to all who attended.
